Transforming Plastic Waste into Clean Energy
This ODA initiative focuses on establishing a waste-to-energy facility in Uzbekistan that converts waste plastics into usable synthetic oil. The program aims to address Uzbekistan’s growing plastic waste problem while contributing to energy self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability.
Key Project Objectives
- Reduce plastic waste in urban and rural areas through innovative recycling technologies.
- Promote renewable energy by converting plastic waste into synthetic oil.
- Foster local capacity by training Uzbek engineers and workers in waste-to-energy technology.
- Create a replicable model for sustainable waste management in other regions of Uzbekistan.
Project Steps
This ODA initiative focuses on establishing a waste-to-energy facility in Uzbekistan that converts waste plastics into usable synthetic oil. The program aims to address Uzbekistan’s growing plastic waste problem while contributing to energy self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability.

1
Feasibility Study
Conducted a comprehensive study to identify suitable locations for the waste-to-energy facility, focusing on areas with high plastic waste generation.
Assessed environmental impact and energy potential of the proposed facility.
2
Technology Transfer
Partnered with Korean engineering firms specializing in pyrolysis technology, which breaks down plastic waste into synthetic oil.
Imported machinery and equipment for the facility.
3
Facility Construction
Built a waste-to-energy plant in the outskirts of Tashkent, capable of processing 100 tons of plastic waste daily.
Integrated advanced filtration systems to minimize emissions.
4
Workforce Training
Trained 50 local engineers and workers on the operation and maintenance of pyrolysis systems.
Conducted workshops on sustainable waste management practices.
5
Pilot Production
Launched a pilot phase, converting plastic waste into 500 barrels of synthetic oil per month.
Tested the oil quality for use in industrial applications and power generation.
6
Monitoring & Expansion Plan
Monitored environmental and economic impact over six months.
Developed a roadmap for expanding waste-to-energy plants to other cities in Uzbekistan.
Service Options

"This project is a game-changer for Uzbekistan’s waste management and energy sectors. By turning waste into a valuable resource, we are building a sustainable future for our country."
